Jewellery CAD Designer

I currently take on freelance jewellery design projects, working remotely.

Starting from initial concept, I work closely with clients to understand their needs and create designs that exceed expectations. This is an iterative process which requires input from both a creative and engineering perspective. My bench experience means that my designs are beautiful to look at, achievable from a fabrication point of view and practical for the end user.

I am constantly honing and building my skills, following industry trends and staying up to date on software developments. In this time I have added additional coding capabilities to my skill set, this website being a key example. I have also delved deeper into the usage of Rhino and Blender as tools for design.

Jewellery CAD Designer

During my time in this role I worked in both a design and workshop capacity, helping customers to solidify their ideas and turning them into reality. I gained significant experience in hand fabrication of high end items, using a range of precious metals and stones. I also developed my CAD skills, creating pieces with our Lead Designer or devising bespoke items from scratch.

Key responsibilities:

• Working with clients to create a detailed brief for their bespoke projects
• Designing pieces in line with customer briefs and budgets
• Creating 3D models of designs for customer approval and use by the workshop team
• Developing and designing new jewellery ranges, unique to our company
• Creating renders of existing stock
• Making 3D models for casting
• Collating photo-books for customers of their pieces being made
• Managing the company website and web-shop
• Researching new technologies to help the further development of the business
• Rapid prototyping with our in house 3d printer
• Maintaining stock and updating prices to reflect market trends, material and labour costs
• Liaising with customers regarding their bespoke orders
• IT support for the business
• Assisting the retail by serving customers, taking payments
• Jewellery making including stone setting, soldering and hand fabrication

Bench worker

Building on my training in engineering and woodwind repair, this role gave me the opportunity to build my hands on experience in metal work, working with high end musical instruments.

Key responsibilities:

• Assessing instruments, quoting for all required repair and maintenance work
• Precision repairs and restorations on a range of brass and woodwind instruments
• Advising customers and assisting with the purchase of new instruments
• Management of the the company stock systems including ordering and invoicing
• Management of the company web presence

Woodwind Making and Repair Diploma

Focusing practical engineering skills towards the making and maintenance of woodwind instruments. A major outcome of the training was the design and hand fabrication of a silver flute.

NVQ Performing Engineering Operations (Level 2)

Development of practical and theoretical engineering skills for metalwork including: lathe turning, milling, precision drilling, threading, tempering, annealing, hardening, filing, sharpening, technical drawing, marking out and working to tolerance.

University education, Music major (BA equivalent)

I achiveved credits at the listed universities across a three year period, studying music. They belong to the Swedish education system and are the equivalent of BA(Hons)in the United Kingdom.

My studies inlcuded: administrative musicianship, piano and flute playing, music theory and theoretical music.

Gymnasium education, Arts major (A levels equivalent)

Highly focused musical studies with a supporting curriculum of arts subjects including:maths, biology, chemistry, physics, sociology, religious studies and history. Language studies included Swedish, English and German.

The course inlcuded a large ammount of work based expereince as a classical soloist & orchestral musician including performances for the Swedish and Norwegian Royal families, the Nobel Prize Awards, television and radio performances and CD recordings.
